Homer

[Homer] Press Release

“Homer” is a piece of contemporary artwork using oil-based pigments on board and it is presented by OA (Original Art Association www.oaa.co.nz), for the concern of the environment.

These days, a majority of pets are affected greatly by human artificial choices. Some of them are living unimaginably difficult lives. The British, French bulldogs purebreds and crossbreeds, are examples of animals that suffer from Brachycephalic Obstructive Airway Syndrome (BOAS).

“Spending your whole day trying to breathe through a pillow” is a description of the life of these flat-faced breeds, quoted from The New Zealand Veterinary Association.

Human values are changing the ways of living for natural creatures from what it should be. Art can’t stop anything. Though, it can challenge the values that are favored by against nature. “Homer” is questioning why nature is ignored and fought against, in order to satisfy human happiness.
